Born to Chinese-Taiwanese parents, Jason Niu spent the earlier years of his life in the sprawling urban/suburban landscape that is Los Angeles. His pursuit of a future in fashion began after being accepted into Parsons the New School of Design in New York, New York in 2006. He has worked for design houses such as Derek Lam, The Gap, Club Monaco, ADAM Adam Lippes, and Mary Ping. His signature aesthetic plays up contrasts between strict tailoring versus soft draping and utilitarianism versus luxury.
